We spoke with María E. Pérez, manager of ROMELPE, located at calle / Navarra, nº: 13 Telde, «Ciudad del Mueble» in the Canary Islands that has a whole four-storey shopping center in the center of San Gregorio, in Telde .
Woman, Mother and Guayre
María Pérez, did you dream when you went to school and you were little that you were going to control a large ship that floats in balance despite the great magnitude of what is in the deep corporate ocean?
No.
I grew up in a family business, and with the example of my parents. I do not consider it a dream, for me it was normal. Day to day is what teaches you that what seemed normal for, really is not such a simple task.
How is the inner courage of the woman when she is a mother?
I don't consider a mother to be braver than anyone else. Being a mother generates a thousand and one doubts, insecurities, fears, but they are overcome day by day and you realize that you can do it, better or worse, but in a unique and safe way.
How can we transmit your strength and your courage to all the girls who want to be mothers and also want to be responsible for managing a company?
They are compatible activities, but both very absorbing. With which you have to be willing to make a lot of sacrifices and miss things.
Combining the two activities requires strength not to have regrets for missing moments in the family when necessary or for leaving things pending in the company to be with the family.
I have been fortunate to have the help and support of my husband and to work together.
Do you stop before the foam of the wave to rest, to meditate ... or are you always running?
In recent times I have been wearing the automatic and I recognize that this means that every moment of life is not there for the enjoyment. But before the wave you always have to stop, watch it and decide. Every wave gives you something different.
We have invited you to be "Guayre" because being a mother who defends the fort and the family is worthy of admiration. A father is also a «Guayre», we focus on the woman in this interview and I ask: Do you feel Guayre? Like the Guayre, do you guard the coast from possible attacks to watch over the Guanerteme (for your family in this case) that lives further away from dangers and offer peace of mind to those you care for?
I don't feel like it's anything special. As a mother I want the whole family to always be safe and above all to be happy. It is what every parent wants. That is what we do every day, work so that they have a stability that makes them grow as people.
How is silence lived when a person is a woman, a mother and even Guayre?
Silences are of many kinds. There are silences that we do to protect everyone, so as not to pass our worries over to them. There are harsh silences because your environment does not understand your position and your involvement. There are silences that give you strength, that you enjoy for the peace they provide.
What would you say is the vital force of being, or the soul that achieves admiration towards confidence and struggles towards yourself, to get up in the morning and achieve your daily goals?
My family, without a doubt
What do you recommend us to give this Christmas?
Time and relax. Giving things for the house is giving time. Let me explain: "If someone gives you a cleaning robot, the person who receives this gift will have free time." The dishwasher gives us time by not having to wash the dishes by hand. It gives us time, a little time to read a book, watch a series or take a nap.
Give comfort, a good sofa or armchair for that free time of rest or nap where you can lie down to enjoy.
