I met an English girl who, while learning our language, was amazed at translating the names of all the people she was introduced to. One day, when the Rama festivities arrived, I took her to Agaete and she was perplexed to meet Mari Nieves, Nieves Rosa, Nievita, Nieves Julia...: "A place with so much heat and... a name with so much cold...". After the festivities she understood that the “Snows” in Gran Canaria are synonymous with warmth wrapped in colours, music and tradition. Las Nieves in the Canary Islands, in Agaete are the festivals of the Branch and this is something that keeps our hearts warm.
And if not, ask the papahuevos that after two years still they even seem bigger.
They hit the stretch!
Also the desire to share, dance and everything that the Rama de Agaete festivities entails.
August is not the same without the festival of the Rama, so enjoy and hit the growth spurt, the one that spreads smiles throughout the valley and the coast of Agaete.
