Killian Viera lives and gives us his music from Arguineguín. In that landscape of "calm waters" he has grown up with a peculiar voice, broken but sharp. When you listen to him you want more because his voice embraces and seduces you.
Killian, do you compose all your songs?
Yes. They were all written by me. Although I also sing versions of other authors, at the moment we are, but the immediate future is to start doing concerts, entirely of my songs. I want to do this in the short term.
Of your published works, which one are you most proud of?
I could not tell you ... although if I have to choose I will tell you that "My Vice" is special to me, because I dedicated it to my girlfriend. I composed it for her for her birthday. The lyrics have a lot of feeling, they say a lot.
How have you been preparing to be a singer-songwriter?
The truth is that I started as a game almost. I wanted to learn to play the guitar for the barbecue, honestly, that was my motivation in the beginning. Then it influenced that my whole family plays. They are all musicians: my grandmother sings, my parents dedicate themselves to music too, their whole lives. My uncle composes and produces ...
That's where the musical vein comes from .. My father taught me three guitar chords and then I got more and more and until now.
Tell us about your listening tastes and who your musical influences were.
I listen to Alejandro Sanz a lot, Spanish rap like Nach, Tote King, Spanish pop and English music too.

We have seen that you have collaborated with other Canarian musicians such as Daniela Garsal and DJ Sammyto, how was the experience?
We have a very good relationship. We have almost reached 50 thousand reproductions of the song "No te creas", on Spotify. Daniela and Sammyto are 2 great artists. It was a pleasure to collaborate with them and, in general, anything that is supporting each other between artists and doing things together is the best of the best.
Your songs stand out for their optimistic messages. They are happy themes and they speak, generally, of conquest, of positive love ... are you like that?
I am positive and I like to look at things from another perspective. I am convinced that if you take everything to the path of negativity, your life gets worse and you do not enjoy life and I like to enjoy life.

Are you doing live events?
Yes, I have concerts in Sotavento, Hard Rock, Botánica. In Gran Canaria I do events, now with versions due to the current situation, but as I told you I sing my songs and people know them and support me.
Do you have a fan club?
Not as much as a fan club but I have my followers who are loyal to me and follow me on networks and see me live.
How would you define your Killian music?
I have the ability to easily transform and adapt to varied styles. I do a regatteon, I rap, or I sing you a romantic love song; I don't know how to define myself but I am versatile. I don't like to pigeonhole myself. If you put my album on, you will find songs of all kinds. You can listen to the entire album and it is not tiring because it is not repetitive
How do you combine music with your daily life, with your family life?
Singing and composing is my passion but it is also a job and as such, you have to organize and put yourself. What I am experiencing is what I like to do the most, but you have to be professional. I take it this way: it is what I like and I am lucky to be able to dedicate myself to it. So I put the seriousness and desire that you have to have in a job, but I also take it as a hobby and I love it. I feel lucky to do what I love.
When it comes to getting on stage, do you have any rituals?
Well the truth is that no. Well a shot of honey rum and get work done at the stipulated time.
How do you deal with social networks?
All right, help me carry them. My team and I are working on them but I don't publish many stories because I'm a home guy and I don't have so much to tell but my music
Is the cliché of "singing in the shower" fulfilled with you or are you more of singing while driving?
In the shower, yes, of course ... but look while driving, I'll be honest, in the car I rarely play music. I entertain myself with interviews or podcasts but not music.
Where do you find the inspiration to compose?
Some songs have come out of my relationship with my girlfriend. Although the most common is that the songs are coming out alone, at any time. Sometimes an idea occurs to me and I immediately record it with my mobile so as not to lose it, because if I have a good idea and it goes away, that makes me feel as if a piece of myself has been taken away from me. Then, as a result of the idea, I create, but it comes out on my own.

How is your creative process?
I take the guitar and put a rhythm on it, that rhythm that I already have in mind, then I have to work on it, to formalize it, with the chords on the guitar. Give him the chord wheel, the rhythm wheel. The guitar always accompanies me, guides me and I get ideas with it, all with it.
Sometimes I also ask my producer and he sends me different instrumentals, with which we work and we are shaping it.
I want you to help me fill in this sentence: "Time stops, everything is left over when ..."
That's mine, right? - laughs and hums- ... "only your kisses make me out of control ...." and more laughter, Killian is a man with a laugh out loud.
Sometimes I improvise the lyrics, sometimes, when I sing live, in all concerts I invent something.
Who would you like to have a next collaboration with?
I met Dani Romeo, a Canarian singer, and we got along very well. I would also like to do a song with El Vega. And a dream would be to do a song with Alejandro Sanz.
Do you remember what was your first CD bought?
The truth is that I didn't get to buy CDs because my parents had everything, but I do remember that I really liked Estopa's first work, I listened to it over and over again and also “A lo cubano” by Orishas, it was something spectacular.
How do you see yourself in 10 years, in the puzzle of your life?
Dedicated to what I like, with my songs, with a house in Arguineguín. The same as now but with musical growth and living in Gran Canaria.
Killian, can you tell us what "your vice" is?
My vice is music and my vice is my family. I was a father a few months ago. This and my work. Also my friends. I am a family guy and my vice is that I want to continue the same, surrounded by my family, my friends and that we are all healthy.
